Admissions
Entrance Requirements Applications for admission to the College of Education and Allied Professions must be submitted to the Office of Admissions of the University of Toledo. Requirements for admission to the University, application information and forms for application are available through the University of Toledo Admissions web page. Note: Students who are eligible for admission to the College are not guaranteed admission to the professional education phase of the program. Most programs have a second admission step for the professional education phase that includes additional requirements. Readmission of Former Students Undergraduate students who discontinue course work for a period of at least one academic year (not including summer) must request readmission to the University. Students with, at minimum, a grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 or better may petition for readmission. If students have taken any course work at another institution during the time they have been awayfrom the University (other than transient status), they must complete a new application in the Admissions Office and meet transfer admission requirements (see below). The procedure for readmission is completing an Application for Change in Registration Status, and making an appointment with one of the college advisors in the Student Services Center (Snyder Memorial Room 108). Students who have not taken course work for more than 12 months must comply with the college requirements at the time of readmission. When seeking readmission, students whose GPA is below 2.0 can only be readmitted on approval of the Associate Dean or designate. Students with a GPA of 2.0 or higher may seek readmission at the Student Services Center (Snyder Memorial Room 108). Admission of Transfer Students Students in good standing may transfer with the following minimum requirements from another college at The University of Toledo or from other accredited colleges and universities and enroll in the College of Education and Allied Professions.
Grade point averages are calculated by reviewing all courses completed through any accredited college or university. Students wishing to transfer from another college on campus to the College of Education and Allied Professionsmust not have been suspended prior to or during the semester in which the student initiates transfer proceedings. If suspended from another baccalaureate college, the student must fulfill the suspension policy of that college. Students with satisfactory records from other accredited colleges and universities may enroll in the College of Education and Allied Professions after review of official transcripts and admission into the College. After the admission process has been completed, the student is notified of the allowed transfer credit. Courses in which a grade of C or better has been received may be accepted for credit either for comparible required or elective credit. Admission of Undergraduates with Degree (UWD) Students who have completed the requirement for a baccalaureate degree who are interested in teacher certification may seek admission to the college as undergraduate with degree (UWD) students. Admission does not guarantee admission to professional education, only admission to the college. UWD students are not candidates for a second degree, only admission to a specific certification program. Students who seek admission as undergraduates with degrees are subject to the following criteria for admission to the specific teacher education programs in the College of Education and Allied Professions.
